10/16/2017 New York, New everything!
My time in New York so far has been a lesson in how to have your mind blown!
Every new show I see, every new idea and encounter is having a profound impact on my psyche. So many wonderful new things to consider, ponder upon, process. The more I learn, the more I find myself turning my gaze inward, looking to anchor myself and not disperse my energy and my focus too much.
New York is teaching me anew how to take care (of the artist/moi ) and let go of the need for absolute control of the project. So I try different approaches to the work and create different things and trust that it will all come together coherently in the end.
I showed a work I had never shown before: Invite a dictator to tea, 2014, as part of a group show with the SVA Curatorial practice program. Memory of Oblivion is the name of the exhibition and it is curated by María Sáenz, on view between October 12 – October 25, 2017. You can find more details about this exhibition here.
